It’s a great day to celebrate if you’re from North or South America because of how well-represented the Americas Dota 2 scene is at the PGL Wallachia Season 2. With four Dota 2 teams from the North and South American regions reaching the playoffs, this Americas-stacked conclusion to the event has surprised everyone.
Recap on PGL Wallachia S2 Group Stage
The Group Stage of PGL Wallachia S2 concluded with SA teams, HEROIC, beastcoast, and Infinity, alongside NA team, Nouns Esports, advancing into Playoffs.
That’s half of the top eight teams competing in the Playoffs, which is impressive for this region. Sure, the PGL Wallachia S2 doesn’t have most of the familiar powerhouses, such as Team Liquid and Gaimin Gladiators, to name a few.
4/8 teams from the Americas confirmed best region!!!!

But the competition is still exciting, considering the new post-TI13 rosters competing in this tournament. Additionally, the regions did have a total of six teams competing at the event, over a third of the total teams, but it’s still a remarkable result.
Make Americas Great Again
For the uninitiated, SA and NA regions traditionally don’t have the best impressions in terms of performance. With major NA powerhouses, such as Evil Geniuses, exiting the pro scene in the past few years what’s left were mostly new teams.
Yet, in recent years, we have seen several newcomers pick up the torch for both NA and SA. Notably, Nouns has been consistently keeping up with the competition, having decent finishes at The International.
The SA region, on the other hand, has quite an abundance of teams and talents, that have eventually overwhelmed their rivals from China. The Chinese region, despite being held in high regard, has a talent shortage, which put them at a poor spot among these new challengers.
What’s next for Dota 2 Americas Teams?
Nevertheless, these teams still have a lot to prove at the PGL Wallachia S2 Playoffs. As the odds are against them, especially when they have to face the likes of Team Falcons and Tundra Esports in the Playoffs.
We saw how sloppy beastcoast was against Falcons, which is not a good sight if they hope to make a name for themselves. With two Americas teams already in the lower bracket at the time of writing, it’s looking bleak and it might spell early elimination for them.
Nevertheless, having even one team, HEROIC, in the top-four, or even potentially win the PGL Wallachia S2 altogether, would be a testament of the region’s strength. If you’re looking for an outside bet on PGL Wallachia S2, we’d pick HEROIC.
