Fuelled by the completion of its most ambitious playtest to-date, US developer Bazooka Tango has now unveiled more details of the open beta release of Shardbound.
Launching 27th June, the game will be available for everyone via Epic Games Store, whereas previously it’s only had key-gated access.
Significantly, Shardbound is deploying on Immutable zkEVM. As such it’s one of the inaugural games to go live on its mainnet, joining titles like Guild of Guardians and Hunters On-Chain.
In terms of the game, it’s a tactical turn-based card collectible with deck-building elements. Originally launched as a Kickstarter project, after struggling to get sufficient funding the developer decided to venture into web3 and revamp the game with NFTs.
In Shardbound’s latest playtest there will be a range of new features, including:
- An in-game shop – allowing players to buy starter decks, new cards to enhance their existing decks, and more.
- Improved card upgrading – including the ability to fuse copies of the same card.
- New battle pass system, enabling players to earn rewards for completing daily quests.
More generally, the game has also undergone a visual improvement and implemented better matchmaking.
