While the off-season transfer window is yet to be open, LEC team GIANTX is already making moves for its 2025 lineup.
GIANTX is already making tryouts
According to a report by Sheep Esports, both support player Lee “IgNar” Dong-geun and Head Coach Christophe “Kaas” van Oudheusden are set to leave GIANTX. The decision comes after a somewhat disappointing year for the organization, as the team fought constantly in the bottom half of the standings.
Despite the presence of key veterans such as Odoamne, Patrik, and the Korean import and former world champion jungler Juhan, the team wasn’t able to finish further than sixth, putting an early end to their season.
The LEC organization is reportedly looking for a major roster build with tryouts already underway before the end of Worlds 2024.
A new head coach for the team?
Kaas joined GTX before the merger between Excel and GIANTS occurred at the end of 2023. The Belgian previously worked in the MAD Lions as part of their coaching staff. Going into the new season, the team will be looking for a new Head Coach, Nicolas “Nico” Perez, who is set to stay on the team as the assistant coach.
For the roster lineup, however, there are currently no indications of who might be taking IgNar’s position. Aside from the Korean support, Juhan’s contract also expires at the end of the year so the jungle position is also potentially subject to changes. Jackies has a contract running until 2026 while Patrik still has one more year. The team will likely field a new top laner given that both Odoamne and Th3Antonio, who were part of the lineup during the season, have left the organization.
Will there be more players leaving GTX? The transfer window is set to open later this year in November: that’s when we will know what most of the roster will start to look like.
