Fortnite is celebrating another birthday! This means the normal items are unvaulted like the birthday cake, but there’s a different approach to balloons this time around. They’re not back in item form like in past years, instead, there’s a new birthday medallion in Fortnite.
The new medallions take the standard birthday feature of attaching balloons to yourself, and make it a bit more Chapter 5. Medallions have been one of the defining features of the current map, so it’s fitting to use them for the birthday content in this Fortnite anniversary event.

How to Get Birthday Medallion in Fortnite
If you want to try out the new birthday medallion Fortnite item, it comes out of the new loot with this update. This is how you can collect it:
- Find birthday presents
- Throw them
- Go into the birthday present
- Inside, you’ll find the normal loot but a chance at getting the birthday medallion in Fortnite
That’s how you can track it down! It’ll take a bit of luck, but it does seem to be dropping more often.
How Does the Birthday Medallion Work?

Unlike the boss medallions you find at the best landing spots, these can be grabbed by more than one person It also won’t reveal your location on the mini map.

This second change makes a lot of sense too. Since so many people have the birthday medallions, it would be a mess if they showed on the mini-map. This keeps things a bit cleaner.
