Snax has won an S-Tier LAN with G2 – what year is it again? The BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024 has reached its conclusion, with G2 finally breaking its nine-match losing streak against NAVI in a 3:1 series. What a time to do it. It was an impressive win for G2, who can use this to gather momentum as we head to the final stages of the year.
Snax leads G2 to its second title of 2024
Much will be made of G2’s victory in the coming days, but IGL Snax will surely be at the forefront of plenty of discussion. The Polish legend’s best days are certainly behind him on an individual level, and he has faced plenty of criticism since coming on board the G2 project. What better way to silence the haters than by lifting the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024 trophy, six years since his last big win on LAN at ESL One New York 2018?
The storylines don’t end with Snax, though. How about a mention for malbsMd, who became the first Guatemalan player ever to lift a Counter-Strike trophy? This was a staggering performance from the 21-year-old rifler, who made NAVI look ordinary as he posted a 67-54 statline across the four maps. He’s the talk of the competitive CS2 scene at the moment, and we’re excited to see him perform like this for many years to come. A marvelous talent.
Are NiKo and m0NESY CS2’s most exciting duo?
It’s worth noting that this series was close on all four maps. Any map could have gone either way for G2 and NAVI, meaning the star power made the difference on the day. Step up, NiKo and m0NESY. The pair were in scintillating form here, showcasing why they’re considered to be the best duo pairing in the world right now. A look at m0NESY’s crazy 77-48 series scoreline shows how great he was here.
Compare them to w0nderful and iM for NAVI. These two have stepped up during the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024, but posted 51-58 and 56-61 scorelines respectively at the final hurdle. It isn’t always the case in these Grand Finals, but this was an important reminder of how individual brilliance can trump excellent team play at times.
Does NAVI need a break?
Remember towards the start of CS2, when FaZe Clan were reaching every single Grand Final before all of a sudden falling off a cliff? NAVI are approaching a similar situation, having reached five Finals in a row now. These deep runs are bound to take a toll physically on the players, and we certainly saw signs of that here against G2.
We’re not saying NAVI will completely collapse going into IEM Rio 2024. They still looked great in Copenhagen, make no mistake about it. However, an early exit in Brazil could actually be a positive for the team. It’s not the biggest event of the year, and with the BLAST World Finals and Major coming up, they need some time to rest and recuperate properly.
