Following the Shaquille O’Neal crossover, Stephen A. Smith teased his own crossover skin, indicating his interest to be a part of Fortnite. The sports analyst has no real connection to the game, but he did drop an ironic look at himself in Fortnite.
While it remains a longshot to ever see the renowned ESPN employee ever make it to the metaverse, it’s not impossible. Epic Games has worked with plenty of real people, some of whom also had no real connection to Fortnite. Chloe Kim, Patrick Mahomes, and Khaby Lame come to mind. Either way, Smith ironically teased his own crossover.
Fortnite Stephen A. Smith Skin Teased
Stephen A. Smith shared this hilariously photoshopped teaser on his X page. The sports analyst quote tweeted the official announcement of Shaq’s skin to do so. It features the ESPN talk show host floating down with a parachute on his back above Tilted Towers.
That POI is of course no longer in the game, at least for the time being, but it is the most recognizable location in the entire game. As a caption, Smith simply said, “Next up.”
This is in all likelihood just a joke. It is unclear why Epic Games would want to bring the sports analyst to their game, but he might have interest on his end. He once infamously answered the question of where to drop in Fortnite. That was also a joke, but perhaps it sparked an interest.
In theory, Smith would join a long line of Icon Skins, including Shaq, Ninja, Harry Kane, Marshmello, The Weeknd, and so many others.
For what it’s worth, the fans who replied to Smith’s tweet weren’t taking it seriously, so it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. However, Epic Games has worked with surprising brands and surprising people before, so it wouldn’t be totally out of left field to see Stephen A. Smith get some sort of Fortnite crossover.
As of now, it’s not happening, though, so he is not joining his fellow sports media personality Shaq in Fortnite.
