Hogwarts Legacy 2 is officially in development as Warner Brothers reveals a new teaser and fans already have a shortlist of what they want in the new game.
With Harry Potter RPG Hogwarts Legacy officially getting a sequel, as per the teaser trailer and interview released by Variety magazine, the game looks set to ditch its historical setting and instead embrace a modern wizarding world.
Hogwarts Legacy 2 Revealed
Reportedly set to run alongside an upcoming HBO Harry Potter series, Hogwarts Legacy 2 will be a followup to the blockbuster success of the original.
The official reveal of a sequel also strikes a blow to the boycott the first game faced due to the anti-LGBTQ+ opinions of Harry Potter series creator JK Rowling. That boycott, which saw multiple gaming news outlets, critics, and players avoid Hogwarts Legacy, was largely ineffectual, with the game becoming one of the top selling games of 2023, and recently surpassing over 30 million units sold.
However, the game was not without critique on its gameplay, with many criticizing a limited lifespan for the game, lack of updates, lack of online play, and the setting which put players decades into the past, before the events of the Harry Potter books.
What Fans Want To See In Hogwarts Legacy 2
As a result, the new game, which will reportedly have a modern setting fills at least one of the wishlisted desires for the new game. Here’s some of the most requested features:
- Online multiplayer
- Crossplay
- An Original Story
- The return of characters from the first Hogwarts Legacy
- Spell customization
- Quidditch
- More Broom stuff in general
- More battles
- A New Game+
- More origins
- More creatures from the series (More enemies in general)
- Diagon Alley
As you can see it’s not a small list, and fans of Harry Potter have never been accused of being overly reasonable before… which is partly why the Hogwarts Legacy 2 announcement has been greeted by so much excitement!
