LoL will change completely in 2025 with the introduction of Seasons and the newest epic monster, Atakhan. Here’s what you must know ahead of the new season.
Atakhan, the Bringer of Ruin in LoL
With the announcement of the seasonal themes and the introduction of Noxus in the first 16 weeks of 2025, Atakhan will make its way into Summoner’s Rift as the new monster teams will want to capture to increase their chances of victory.
Find out the spawn time, rewards, and the location of the latest neutral objective.
Atakhan – What power does it grant?
There are two forms of Atakhan, each granting different effects.
- Ruinous – grants Bloody Petals to the team who defeats him
- Grants increased effects from all Epic monster rewards to the team who defeats him
- Spawns a grove of Blood Roses in the area that anyone can pick up
- Voracious
- gives a one-time rebirth buff (similar to Guardian Angel) to all members of the team that defeats Atakhan
Blood Roses will grow periodically in the areas where champions have been killed, with each team gaining a small amount of XP and getting permanent stacking Adaptive Force for every Blood Rose collected.
How does the game decide which and where Atakhan’s form will spawn?
Riot revealed that the Ruinous and Voracious will spawn either on the top or bot side of the map, depending on which side racks up the most damage to champions and kills before 14 minutes. An indicator (his arena appears) will be given to signal which side the jungle monster will spawn.
Bear in mind that only damage and kills are taken into consideration, not objectives. Atakhan’s form will also be decided depending on the pace of the game, with bloodier games favoring the Ruinous form.
Atakhan won’t be featured in the last patch of season 14, Patch 14.24, but it will make its way in the PBE soon, ahead of the new season.
Atakhan spawn timer in LoL games
The epic monster will only spawn once at the 20-minute mark. With that in mind, the spawn time of Baron Nashor has been pushed back by 5 minutes to the 25-minute mark.
According to Riot Phroxzon, Atakhan won’t disappear at a given time like Rift Herald, meaning it will stay on the map until it’s killed by one of the two teams.
Speaking of Rift Herald, its spawn time will be pushed back to the 16-minute mark, now that Baron Nashor is spawning much later.
With the competitive season officially restarting in January and a new international tournament, there are a lot of refreshing changes fans can look forward to in 2025.
