For lovers of play-to-earn gaming, The Sandbox’s new event and its new Alpha Season 3 could be really important. Here’s the video announcement:

Registration for the new season is already open, and it looks very much like NFT Avatars will be included within the game.
Not only that, unlike Season 2, players will not need an Alpha Pass to play Season 3, as it is open to everyone. The Alpha Pass is only needed to claim rewards at the end of the season.
Moreover, despite the crypto winter we are currently experiencing, it seems that the blockchain gaming industry is not affected at all.
According to data from DappRadar, in the past 30 days, the number of active unique wallets that have connected to The Sandbox has increased by more than 90% to about 9,500. At the same time, transactions have increased by more than 87% to over 14,500. This shows that players are connecting and interacting with The Sandbox.
The Sandbox Alpha Season 3 and the NFT Avatars
Speaking of the new Alpha Season 3 launch, The Sandbox co-founder and COO Sebastien Borget wrote on Twitter some hints about what the third season might entail and what new features might be added.
Not only that, in his roundup of tweets, Borget also raises a somewhat original point about NFT Avatars in the metaverse, criticizing the idea of Meta Platform.
Sorry Meta, but this is exactly how Avatars should NOT be… identical to ourselves
Avatars are our new digital identity in the Metaverse
Let’s use our imagination and take this chance to be who we really want to be and build a more inclusive and diverse digital nation

Your Avatar = your new digital identity should be unique and interoperable as an #NFT#Web3 technology allows you to own this Avatar – not the platform it was created on – and use it across decentralized virtual worlds like @TheSandboxGame
This is the true Metaverse #Open

“Projects such as @People0fCrypto are trailblazing by launching with @NYXCosmetics by @LOrealGroupe. Avatars that represent non gendered, black and brown women, people of color, and LGBTQIA+ characters.
Your Avatar = your new digital identity should be unique and interoperable as an NFT. Web3 technology allows you to own this Avatar – not the platform it was created on – and use it across decentralized virtual worlds like @TheSandboxGame This is the true Metaverse Open”.
Borget thus promotes the idea of avatars in the metaverse as a new, creative and original digital identity of the user, rather than their digitized copy as is in the view of Mark Zuckerberg.
Third place in the world for hashtags
The Sandbox appeared on the podium, in third place, in terms of hashtags, according to research conducted by analytics firm Santiment, the hashtags #belongingweek and #avatar are among the most used on Twitter, Reddit, and Telegram.
The result seems to have been high enough to be in the trend before Donald Trump possibly runs for US president in 2024.
Specifically, Belonging Week was used as a hashtag in honor of the initiative for a contest related to the world of LGBTQIA+ and inclusion, created with the celebrated NFT World of Women collection.
