Polkadot’s funding program Decentralized Futures has awarded Dot Play a grant to boost gaming on its network. The amount was not disclosed.
In order to help game developers looking to build on Polkadot, Dot Play will offer integration tools and long-term business development support. This will essentially be done through a new hub, the DotPlay Gaming Portal.
A dedicated Dot Play team will be accessible directly to developers looking for support. The team will provide guidance on web3 game design and the integration of Polkadot’s tech stack. Additionally, developers will be connected to other teams within the Polkadot network to foster cross-game collaborations and ecosystem growth.
In terms of the team, it currently consists of four members, including
- Angela Dalton – Signum Growth CEO and Founder,
- Nick Douzinas – Ajuna co-founder,
- Keshav Holani – Gaming and Polkadot analyst, and
- Eliza Jäppinen – Head of IP Development and developer relations, and Visible Realms CEO.
In total, the Decentralized Futures initiative aims to distribute $20 million and 5 million DOT tokens (worth $31 million) to support new projects launching on Polkadot.
So far, the most high-profile team choosing to leverage the network is Mythical Games, which announced its migration from Ethereum to Polkadot in 2023. Mythical’s game portfolio include mobile football game NFL Rivals, mobile car racing game Nitro Nation World Tour, as well as forthcoming mobile games based on the Blankos and Pudgy Penguins IPs.
