A visual bug has temporarily made a common Dota 2 cosmetic item look exactly like a rare 2024 Treasure of the Crimson Witness. A bug which occurred on Sep. 12 and was fixed sometime late on Sep. 13 turned Luna’s weapon cosmetic, the Golden Twilight Schism into the Twilight Schism of the Crimson Witness.
The visual bug, which turned the icon for the Golden Twilight Schism into the Crimson Witness item only had an effect in the inventory of players and, crucially, in the Steam Community Market. As a result, prices for the Golden Twilight Schism shot up from $0.30 USD to around $0.60, almost doubling in price.
An authentic Treasure of the Crimson Witness cosmetic sells for around $150+ USD with unopened containers often listed for thousands of dollars. On average, you can expect to pay between $200-300 USD for a Treasure of the Crimson Witness, so they’re highly sought after.
The bug was quickly and quietly fixed, but not before this market surge. And unfortunately for those who bought the item and helped increase the price, the effect didn’t work in-game, so no cheap Crimson Witness for them.
The Twilight Schism of the Crimson Witness is one of the exclusive Crimson Witness items that drop only from witnessing a First Blood kill at The International. The International 2024’s (TI13) Crimson Witness containers were added to the game just a day or two ago, which is likely where the bug came from.
