El Salvador and Argentina have won favor with Elon Musk, one of the richest men in the world. The same cannot be said for America. Since the first assassination attempt on Donald Trump, Musk has made it clear where his loyalties lie.
For months now, Elon Musk has publicly acknowledged that the American economy is in decline. The tech mogul has said he foresees America becoming a third-world nation.
As far as his economic and political criticisms of America go, El Salvador and Argentina have received his praise. Yesterday, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele visited Tesla headquarters to meet with Elon Musk to discuss, among other things, the role of next-generation technologies like AI in defining humanity’s future.
After the meeting, Musk and Bukele heaped praise on each other. “It was a pleasure to spend several hours talking with one of the great minds of our time, @elonmusk,” Bukele said on X.
Elon responded, saying, “We should livestream our next conversation! I think people would enjoy hearing it.”

On Friday, Nayib Bukele shared a video on X that showed his trip to Tesla’s factory in Austin, Texas, where he met Elon Musk. In the brief video, Musk greets the president and offers him a plant tour.
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO also praised Bukele in a post on X, saying, “Just had an excellent conversation with President @NayibBukele! We talked a lot about the nature of reality, future of humanity, and how technology like AI and robotics will affect the world. El Salvador has an amazing leader.”
Musk received home-grown coffee from Bukele as a present and gave a can of Coca-Cola in exchange. Bukele, who did not specify when he came to the United States, will attend the UN General Assembly next week in New York.
During El Salvador’s recent Independence Day celebration, President Nayib Bukele announced that the country will no longer rely on external debt to finance its upcoming national budget.
El Salvador is taking a major step toward greater economic freedom by eliminating its dependency on external debt and continuing to embrace Bitcoin. The country’s leaders are working to reduce reliance on external financing while crafting a future that embraces new technology.
Musk celebrates Javier Milei’s economic steps in Argentina
Reports have it that Argentina’s stock market has surged 44%, making it the best-performing market in the world in 2024. This development has earned praise from Elon Musk. Musk called it “Inspiring.”
President Milei has turned around an economy that had been plagued by inflation for years. This has been the same case for El Salvador. On the other hand, Milei has celebrated Musk’s effort to move humanity to Mars. He called it humanity’s destiny. He said, “We have put men on the moon and are now aiming for Mars.”
He adds, “And this we have done thanks to the ambition, creativity, and optimism of people like you who partner with one another in a quest for their own happiness. I celebrate the endeavor of my friend @elonmusk to set foot on Mars.”
Now, the Argentine president is set to meet Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Monday while in New York City for the annual United Nations General Assembly session.
The tech billionaire and libertarian president met earlier this year in Texas and promised to work together to promote free markets and potential lithium projects.
Milei will address the UN General Assembly on Tuesday for the first time as president since he took office. Musk has expressed admiration for Milei’s promotion of private enterprise and for the president’s scorn for what he considers socialist excesses.
