Final Fantasy XIV held its Letter from the Producer Live, better known as the FFXIV Live Letter, at the Tokyo Game Show on the early morning of Sep. 29 (Sep. 28 for you Americans). Hosted by the game’s director and lead producer Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida, and community manager and producer Toshio “Foxclon” Murouchi, the Live Letter gave us an insight into the upcoming content for FFXIV.
But in case you’ve missed it all, we’ve broken down all the reveals and listed them handily for your perusing. Here’s everything announced during the latest Live letter in September 2024.
7.1 Releases in Mid-November
The first and most important fact revealed was that FFXIV’s 7.1 patch is set to release in mid-november. This is actually pretty much exactly on schedule. Final Fantasy XIV releases major numbered patches every four months.
Main Scenario Quests Continue
Of course, with this being a main-line major patch, its also time for the post-expansion MSQ to continue. We don’t know what the state of the world will be like after the events of Dawntrail, with the death of Queen Sphene and the election of a new Dawn Servant, so it’ll be exciting to return and discover what’s next for our Warrior of Light.
Pelupelo Allied Society Quests
The former tribal quests, now called Allied Society quests, will continue with us helping the diminutive Pelupelo out. This will likely yield a mount, a minion, and some other cool stuff.
Hildibrand Returns in Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures!
FFXIV’s comic relief character returns for Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures. Last time we saw Hildibrand he was helping us with our relic weapon and meeting aliens. We’re sure things will be a lot more normal this time…
New dungeon coming in Patch 7.1: the Yuweyawata Field Station
With new MSQ comes new content, and this next MSQ dungeon is the Yuweyawata Field Station. By the looks of this, this is a holdover from the earlier invasion that took place during Dawntrail, so we’ll be dealing with that issue.
Echoes of Vana’diel takes you to Jueno: The First Walk
One of the most anticipated parts of the upcoming patch has to be the Echoes of Vana’diel Alliance Raids. These raids are themed after FFXIV’s MMO predecessor FFXI, and will introduce players to the world of that game.
Brand new content: Chaotic Alliance Raids. The Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) will debut in 7.1
A huge surprise announcement during the Live Letter was the reveal of expanded difficulty Alliance Raids, known as Chaotic Alliance Raids. This is a much requested feature, as difficulty levels are a testy point in FFXIV. First up is The Cloud of Darkness, boss of the first set of Alliance Raids in FFXIV.
First look at the upcoming ultimate raid, Futures Rewritten (Ultimate)
We also got a look at the upcoming Futures Rewritten (Ultimate), pitting us against the forces of Eden in one of FFXIV’s most difficult fights. Whether you’re an Ultimate raider, or just a casual fan, this one promises to give us some ever interesting new content soon in the future.
