The Free Fire World Series (FFWS) 2024 Global Finals are set to return to Brazil this year. While the tournament is still a few months away, Garena has unveiled the anticipated slot distribution for the 18 teams competing.
The FFWS 2024 will happen in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from Nov. 8 to 17. The 18 teams will compete for the title and a share of the $1 million prize pool.
FFWS 2024: Full Slot Distribution Revealed
If you are wondering how many teams from each region will be competing in the FFWS at the arena in Brazil, here’s the answer:
- FFWS SEA Fall: Eight
- FFWS Brazil: Four
- FFWS LATAM: Three
- EWC Champion: Falcons
- FFWS Pakistan: One
- FFWS MEA: One
The slot distribution for 2024 is very interesting, with Pakistan being the only country in the world to be given a guaranteed slot. Unlike last year, where regional leagues in Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia determined the teams in the FFWS, this time all of SEA will compete under one roof for slots at the Global Finals.
The FFWS SEA 2024 Fall is ongoing, with the finals set to happen in Surabaya, Indonesia from Oct. 11 to 13. Falcons, who have already qualified for the FFWS as the champions of the Esports World Cup –Â Free Fire, will be looking to defend their title.
This clubbing of regions might lead to more teams from one country over the other. This, in turn, could even affect viewership.
India’s omission comes as no surprise
One of Free Fire’s most popular regions continues to be India. While the game is banned in the country for alleged data privacy concerns, the game’s MAX version continues to enjoy popularity.
Last year, it was announced that Free Fire would be coming back to India on Sept. 5, 2023. However, more than a year later, the game is nowhere to be seen.
Therefore, the region’s continued omission from international Free Fire esports events since its ban in early 2022 is no surprise.
Fans are still hoping for a release of Free Fire India, which could pave the way for the country to compete in events in 2025.
