After months of disappointing results for FlyQuest, we can safely say that Aussie CS is so back. This quintet from Down Under have emerged from ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024 as champions, taking down BIG in the Grand Final. The win sees FlyQuest take home a $50,000 cash prize, as well as a place at ESL Pro League Season 21 next year.
Three map series sees FlyQuest crowned ESL Challenger Atlanta Champions
It wasn’t always comfortable, with FlyQuest needing all three maps to secure the competitive CS2 championship at ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024. They won the first map of Ancient and perhaps should have got the job done on Vertigo, with map two going to overtime.
Heading into the Dust2 decider, FlyQuest took a commanding 9:3 lead at the half. A resurgent BIG had them running scared in the second half, although their lead proved enough to get them over the line, eventually finishing 13:9 in favor of the Australian team. Was it clean? No. But for these players, it’s a first-ever CS trophy win (with the exception of dexter), so they won’t care in the slightest. Congratulations on a great win, FlyQuest.
aliStair answers his critics
Of all the FlyQuest players, aliStair has come under perhaps the most scrutiny of late. When things aren’t going well, you tend to look at your AWPer’s numbers. Frankly, prior to ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024, his numbers haven’t been great. This CS2 tournament was a different story, with aliStair stepping up to save his team on several occasions.
Of all the maps to really show up on, aliStair was magnificent on the final Dust2 decider. Clutch after clutch, he found the answers to BIG’s questions, hitting some ridiculous shots in the process. This was an aliStair we haven’t seen in the Tier 1 scene yet, but it’s not as though BIG aren’t a solid team. If he can keep this up this kind of form, FlyQuest can hopefully start to do some damage at bigger events going forward. We hope to see it.
