After their elimination series against Weibo Gaming at Worlds 2024, FNC top laner Oscarinin shared his thoughts and feelings.
FNC Oscarinin – Gen.G will probably win Worlds
Q: Unfortunately, FNC is out of Worlds 2024, do you guys have any regrets about it and which team do you think will win Worlds this year?
Oscarinin: “I mean, everyone probably has regrets about the year. What we were doing in the games and everything, but it is what it is now. On who’s gonna win, if I had to say someone, it would probably be Gen.G – they looked the most solid of all the teams.”
Breaking down the series
Q: “In the first game you selected Jax and your performance was crucial, especially in the mid game teamfights. However, in the third game, you didn’t have the same impact. What led you to choose Jax and what do you think could’ve happened to improve the performance?”
Oscarinin: “I think we picked Jax because they pick it too and we thought it’s a pretty strong pick in the series. It was pretty important and that’s why we locked it 1-2 and I think in the end it performed in the same way because we fell a lot during the first swap, I got one level behind and they froze mid game and I got really behind, so yeah, that’s why I didn’t have the same impact.”
Q: “What was the most challenging aspect for you in the last two maps that let them tie the score?”
Oscarinin: “I think they were just better at moving around the map. I think they were playing the map better and I think we were not playing as aggressive as we should sometimes and they were taking the map more sometimes.
Q: “I’m sorry for today’s loss. How do you feel about the team’s performance today and what do you think you can learn from the last game?”
Oscarinin: “I think we performed fine but I don’t think we were good good today. We were not cripsy on seeing engages and playing aggressive as we should. We might not have been confident enough and I think that what we should improve on is just being more confident from scrims and doing what it takes to be good in the game. I think the last swap on the last game was pretty bad so we should work on that as well.”
Q: “In Game 3, why did your team choose red side instead of blue side?”
Oscarinin: “It was because of the draft. We wanted to play something for Jax-Rell because we felt they were important in the game and we looked for it.”
Q: “Based on your matchups against Eastern teams, do you prepare a specific playstyle against LPL or LCK, or do you have a traditional playstyle at the international stage?”
Oscarinin: “I think I play the same against everyone. Obviously, we prep and if someone does something more or less, we know what we want to do, but we play the same way against every team.”
What will happen after Worlds?
Q: “What’s next for FNC following this elimination and how do you plan to recover?”
Oscarinin: “I don’t really know what’s next for FNC. For now, it’s off-season. I don’t know what will really happen – we will just reflect on the year and see what to change for the next one.”
