Ahead of its 19th November LAOS token launch, Polkadot parachain LAOS Network has announced a partnership with web3 development platform Sequence to facilitate the integration of free-to-play game mechanics in blockchain games.
Together the companies have also launched the 190 million LAOS tokens Grant Program, which is aimed at supporting developers leveraging LAOS Network by offering additional funding.
Through the partnership, developers looking to implement free-to-play models in their games can leverage LAOS Network’s “bridgeless minting” in order to tokenize in-game assets onto EVM blockchains. Designed to keep gas fees and minting costs low while also preventing network congestion, its infrastructure is optimized to suit the high transaction volumes often required by free-to-play games.
Additionally, using Sequence’s embedded wallet solution, with its compatibility with major gaming engine stores such as Unity App Store and Unreal Marketplace, LAOS is further hoping to bridge web2 and web3 gaming.
By the end of 2024, LAOS is also extending its technology to include NFT minting directly on Bitcoin, without L2s, bridges, or the current Ordinals solution.
LAOS Network co-founder Alun Evans commented, “Our vision at LAOS Network has always been to empower developers by freeing them to tokenize in-game assets on any blockchain, without worrying about cost or scalability issues. Having Sequence as our preferred partner allows us to grow that vision by providing the tools developers need to build dynamic, decentralized games that engage users in new ways.”
Sequence business dev manager Santiago Gramajo added, “LAOS is pioneering a robust and scalable layer-1 solution, unlocking vast opportunities for asset creation and management across the blockchain ecosystem. With our laser focus on onboarding, monetizing, and retaining players, Sequence is thrilled to support LAOS as their preferred partner, integrating our Embedded Wallet and a full suite of tools.”
