After announcing a dramatic change to the way they handle Minecraft Updates earlier this month, developer Mojang has announced its next Minecraft LIVE event will take place on Sep. 28. Announced on Sep. 18, the upcoming live event will showcase the newest features coming to Minecraft.
The event will start at 1pm EDT and likely last for around the hour. According to the description by Mojang, the event will be “unveiling never-before-seen game drops, giving you exclusive insight into secret stuff, and more!”
On Sep. 9, Mojang announced they’d be abandoning the controversial Mob Vote and completely changing the way they updated the game. This would mean more frequent, smaller updates, just as with the Armadillo and Wolf armor update which Minecraft introduced earlier this year.
As a result, there’s one specific item that many people expect to be given a release date: Bundles. That’s because just hours after announcing Minecraft LIVE, Mojang revealed that dyeable bundles had been added to the games’ preview modes such as Java Snapshots and Bedrock Beta.
Bundles are a unique item that was first teased in 2020, although has never been added to the main game, only featuring in snapshots and beta versions. An early game portable storage, bundles are meant to be an early game solution for expanding your inventory, in a similar fashion to Shulker Boxes. However, bundles have a variable space depending on the item type used.
Issues with the way Bundles worked, however, have kept it from a mainline release. Now, with Minecraft LIVE on the horizon, and Minecraft’s new update format coming into play, perhaps Bundles will be the first of the newest type of small update from Mojang.
