NFL Rivals partners with Kansas City Chiefs
Mythical Games has also partnered with the Kansas City Chiefs, the reigning Super Bowl champions, making NFL Rivals the team’s official mobile game. This collaboration will include branding opportunities within Arrowhead Stadium and other joint initiatives. Mythical Games CEO remarked:
We have a range of activations, both in-game and outside, designed to deepen player engagement with the NFL Rivals brand and the football season. We want our player community to be integral to this game, driving more interaction and engagement with our fantastic players.
John Linden
In this iOS and Android football game, players take on the role of team general managers (GMs), calling plays and competing against other teams in the league. While the core of NFL Rivals is a traditional free-to-play game, it also integrates optional NFT player cards. Last August, the studio introduced an in-game marketplace to facilitate trading these digital collectibles.
NFTs and the marketplace enhance the game experience
Linden believes the NFT marketplace has added “another dimension” to NFL Rivals, elevating the game to new heights. He expects the forthcoming player-vs-player (PvP) mode to impact the mobile game’s future significantly.
Linden highlighted that the upcoming and highly anticipated PvP mode should be the biggest upgrade to NFL Rivals since the marketplace went live, and it’s the one they know the players are most excited about.
He also noted that around 20% of players have upgraded their game-supplied wallets to Web3 wallets to interact with NFTs, which are minted on the Mythos Chain built on Polkadot. Daily transactions on the secondary marketplace have surged from a few hundred per day last year to over 8,000 per day ahead of the Year 2 launch.
