The last few months have seen big changes to the way Fortnite handles cosmetics. Each month seems to bring another area where they’re ditching FOMO. Great news for newer players who have so far been locked out of some of Fortnite’ most iconic skins. However, it isn’t all coming back. A lot of players have interpreted recent changes to mean the old Fortnite Battle Pass can come back. However, it isn’t quite that simple.
Going forward, Fortnite Batte Passes will lose exclusivity. On top of that, we’re even seeing starter packs return to the game. Leaving just old passes and things like Crew Packs to not make a return. But can old Fortnite Battle Pass come back? Despite the recent changes, Epic has had to confirm that they aren’t coming back. Why the confusion?
Why Can’t Old Fortnite Battle Pass Come Back?
In recent weeks a few developments have seen players jump to the conclusion that they could get OG pass skins for themselves. The first, is losing exclusivity in new Passes. The second, is the return of Fortnite OG as a permanent mode soon.
The first loss of exclusivity has been the source of a lot of confusion, but it is quite clear. From mid-Chapter 5, Battle Pass items are allowed to come back. This only applies to new passes. Not the old ones.
The second factor of Fortnite OG coming back shouldn’t affect Passes at all. A viral post on social media after the announcement addressed the exact language of exclusivity, that items can’t return after their season is complete. However, that isn’t how it works.
The Battle Pass items have been confirmed by Epic to be staying in the past. While some might want OG to be a return to old passes too, it doesn’t look like that will come to pass. Instead, those old pass skins are going to stay some of the rarest Fortnite skins. Since Passes from now on have no exclusivity though, anything you miss at the moment could always come back in the future.
