The Free Fire esports Instagram account announced today that RZX Esports, the sole Pakistani representative at the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) 2024 Global Finals in Brazil, will not be able to compete due to visa issues.
This is really disappointing for the region, which is important for Garena as it has many Free Fire players. RZX Esports qualified for the tournament through the lengthy format of the FFWS Pakistan, which featured open qualifiers, leading to the playoffs, group stage, and finally, the grand finals. Therefore, being unable to compete in an event like the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) comes as a huge setback.
RZX Esports gets 18th place in the FFWS 2024 Global Finals
While their absence disappoints fans and the team, Garena, the developer of Free Fire, has confirmed that RZX Esports will still receive the prize for 18th place.
The tournament features a total prize pool of $1 million, with the 18th-place team receiving $15,000. While Pakistan has never been one of the stronger regions in Free Fire esports, the experienced squad of RZX Esports were hoping to turn that around this year.
“RZX ESPORTS has been the spotlight for Pakistan, writing their story with each Booyah they claimed. We look forward to future encounters and hope to see them shine again soon,” Garena said in its statement.
Free Fire World Series 2024 Global Finals continues with 17 teams
With the tournament just days away, there’s no time to find a replacement. As a result, the tournament will continue with only 17 teams. They will compete from Nov. 8 to 24 for the title of champions in a lengthy format.
The tournament has returned to Rio, Brazil after five years, making it a nostalgic return for Free Fire fans. If you are looking to get in on the action, check out our guide and the best odds for Free Fire betting.
