With the LCS being unified with the LLA and CBLOL, Riot Games shares the new model for the 2025 Americas League.
Americas League in 2025 – Tier 1 teams
There has been a lot going on in the LoL Esports scene and Riot has unveiled more details about what’s going to happen. Following the departure of Golden Guardians and Evil Geniuses last year, and the recent rumors of Immortals and NRG leaving the competitive scene, only six orgs from the LCS are left.
Riot said it will be announcing all the details regarding the Tier 1 teams after the 2024 season ends. In the meanwhile, the game developer explained how the new Americas League, which is split between North and South conferences, will operate in the upcoming year.
It’s all about consistency and fairness
Riot stated that both North and South conferences will operate under identical formats and calendars as the goal is to develop the region and foster cross-conference competition.
The two conferences will host games in their respective headquarters, meaning that the North will be played in Los Angeles at the Riot Games Arena while the South will be at the CBLOL Arena in SĂŁo Paulo. The top teams from each conference will be taking part in LAN events twice a year when competing in global tournaments.
Split 1
Riot is looking to bring a unique structure to the new league, and the first split will start with the introduction of the Fearless Draft format, which means that teams won’t be able to pick the same champions more than once in every series. At the end of the first split, there will be the first-ever cross-conference showdown.
Split 2
In the second split, instead, the competition will turn back to a traditional format, with the top teams from both North and South conferences earning a spot at MSI.
Split 3
For the third and last split, there will be a more aggressive format with series play that will culminate in a LAN event where the best teams will fight for three spots at Worlds. The top team from each conference will earn one slot while the last one will be contended by the other top teams. There will be a Regional Championship roadshow and a new location will be chosen within the Americas each year.
While the LCS, LLA, and CBLOL are getting ready for Worlds 2024, a new era is coming alive in League of Legends.
