With the League of Legends 2024 World Championship fast approaching, Riot Games announced Opera GX as its latest partner for the competitive scene.
Riot Games x Opera GX – the official browser partner of LoL Esports
The game publisher made the announcement today as it has signed a global, multi-year partnership with Opera GX. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The deal will see Opera GX become the official browser partner for the League of Legends esports scene. According to a release, the partnership will coincide with the start of the League of Legends World Championship, which is set to start on Sept. 25. Additionally, the browser will be part of the Worlds Unlocked promotion which contains a series of limited-edition in-game and physical items.
The browser to serve as an “interactive directory”
Opera GX will have a key role in Riot’s Co-Streamer Hub, which will feature over 75 co-streamer channels for the biggest tournament of the year. The hub will centralize all the co-streaming options and filter creators by region and language. Additionally, Opera GX users will have access to a “fan-friendly, comprehensive viewing experience, as they will gain access to enhanced stats, digital drops, and additional navigation features for all Worlds content.
“Opera GX is the ideal partner for LoL Esports as they are a brand built for players, by players, and there’s no better time for us to showcase our new collaboration than during Worlds,” said David Mulhall, Riot Games Head of Global Esports Partnerships. “We’re thrilled for the opportunity that this partnership brings to reimagine what an immersive and dynamic esports fan experience looks like, and we see this year as just scratching the surface of what’s possible for our brands to create together.”
The 2024 League of Legends World Championship will take place from September 25 to November 2 in Europe, with the best 20 LoL teams competing across Berlin, Paris, and London.
