From a Kickstarter project in 2019 to one of this year’s most anticipated web3 game launches, Bazooka Tango has reached a major milestone rolling out Shardbound open beta via Epic Games Store and Steam.
For the over 100,000 pre-registered users there’s even better news, as in conjunction with the launch, they’ll receive a unique set of playable cards. Including one Rare, one Epic, and one Legendary card, these sets will be distributed either via players’ Immutable Passport wallets or as email redemption codes.
Additional rewards are also on hand as Shardbound and its co-developer Immutable is kicking off a rewards campaign as part of Immutable’s The Main Quest. This means players completing various in-game quests can earn up to 100 gems, which can later be redeemed for Immutable’s IMX token.
Although fully playable as a web2 version, tapping into the optional web3 features enhances many of Shardbound‘s elements. For instance, connecting a wallet makes players eligible for NFT upgrades, which are based on participation during specific time windows. Missing one time-limited window means missing out on certain upgrades. This aims to encourage early engagement in the game.
As for the upgrade windows, the schedule is
- First upgrade, 9-16th October
- Second upgrade, 16-23rd October
- Third upgrade, 23-30th October
- Fourth and final upgrade, 30 October-6th November
In addition, there will be a Shard and Shield event, letting players complete missions for further rewards. As well as rewards for consecutive days played, there will also be opportunities to expand card collections through faction-based events.
Bazooka Tango co-founder Bo Daly commented, “Shardbound’s open beta is a huge moment for us, and for the players who’ve been waiting to get in on the action.”
“We’ve always believed in creating games that are fun to play but also have that extra depth for those who want to dig in. This is just the start of what we have planned, and I can’t wait to see how players take the game and make it their own.”
