NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) have been added to the abundance of merchandise sold on Shopify, an online marketplace. Harley Finkelstein, President at Shopify, announced the update on his Twitter page Monday, July 26th.
NFTs can now be purchased directly from merchants’ storefronts on Shopify. This grants easier NFT transactions between merchant and customer, while providing a more accessible way to get in on the NFT action for those interested in purchasing their first (or more!) NFT(s).
Finkelstein states that allowing NFTs to be sold directly on the Shopify marketplace provides better management of each sale for the merchant. Previously, he notes, “merchants would have to sell through a 3rdparty…we are putting the power back into the hands of merchants and meeting customers how and where they want to buy.”
The Chicago Bulls will be one of the first merchants selling NFTs on Shopify. According to the Bulls’ NFT Legacy Collection website, the basketball team’s NFT Collection consists of “the team’s iconic six World Championship rings, features six unique token designs in three distinct tiers of rarity and will be available to purchase (while supplies last) July 26-31.”
The Chicago Bulls Legacy Collection [currently sold out] can be found here.
