This weekend we’ve seen the conclusion to 2024’s competitive events for Fortnite, but it isn’t the end. Next year we’ll move into Chapter 6, and with it a new season for the FNCS. FNCS 2025 is going to be a bit different though. Epic has teased some key changes, including the return of a pretty beloved feature to Fortnite competitive.
This year’s FNCS didn’t disappoint. With the FNCS Global Championship being tight up until the very final matches. In the end, Peter bot and Pollo’s ridiculous kill counts sealed things and saw them crowned our top Fortnite players for the year. Do they have what it takes to do it a second consecutive year? There’s a huge prize pool announced already, and this new feature making a return is going to change things up too.
FNCS 2025 Announced
The FNCS is making another return in the next year. For FNCS 2025, we’re getting a $8,000,0000 prize pool! Although, that is spread over all the regions and different FNCS winners. In terms of format, we don’t know too much yet. It’ll likely follow the last two examples, Majors for each season backed up by an end of year LAN. However, there is another major change coming to the game.
Siphon is returning for FNCS 2025! Fortnite siphon will be back as a feature for competitive in the new year. This is a much-missed mechanic which could reinvigorate the competitive landscape for Fortnite.
What is Siphon in Fortnite Competitive?
Siphon in Fortnite is a feature where after killing a player, you get a little health or shield. It replenishes your health to make it easier to defend from third parties. Survivability is vital in Fortnite esports with their placement being the key to getting more points in each event. Third-partying is where a player picks off the winner of a fight since their health is already low, it discourages fights and action. Siphon is probably the best solution Epic has ever found to this problem, though they’ve been avoiding it for a long time.
FNCS 2025 will be introducing siphon! This Chapter we’ve already seen it as a prize for those who take down a boss, like with this season’s Doom medallion or the Cerberus Medallion in C5 S2. But that only effected a single player Seeing an entire lobby be more free to push fight could open the meta back up. It’ll be interesting to see how this effects things once the FNCS 2025 returns in the new year.
