Madonna and Beeple have announced that their new collection of 3 NFTs titled “Mother of Creation” will go on sale on 11 May 2022 on SuperRare. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to charity.

Madonna and Beeple have announced the launch of their new 3 NFT collection titled Mother of Creation, which will go on sale exclusively on SuperRare on 11 May 2022.

Madonna:

The starting price for the 3 masterpieces by the two artists will be 0.00035774 ETH ($1 USD), while proceeds from the sales will be donated to three non-profit organizations – The Voices of Children Foundation, The City of Joy Foundation and Black Mama’s Bail Out. 

Madonna and Beeple and the NFT collection dedicated to the idea of creation and motherhood

Apparently, even star Madonna couldn’t resist the allure of NFTs to convey her message, adding to her already artistic communication tools such as music, film, dance and writing. 

The new collection is the result of a year-long labor of love, with the goal of telling the idea of creation and motherhood through the new digital art tool of Non-Fungible Tokens. The three works explore the concept of birth through darkness and light in our modern world. 

In this regard, Madonna stated:

“When Mike and I decided to collaborate on this project a year ago, I was excited to have the opportunity to share my vision of the world as a mother and an artist with Mike’s own unique point of view. It’s been an amazing journey building this together from an intellectual idea to an emotional story, giving birth to art.

I wanted to investigate the concept of creation, not only the way a child enters the world through a woman’s vagina, but also the way an artist gives birth to creativity. Most importantly we wanted to use this opportunity to benefit mothers and children who are most in need right now”.

Beeple also joined in the commentary as follows:

“I was thrilled to connect artistically with Madonna to create this series of artworks. Our collaboration was really natural and we shared a creative vision that has been so gratifying to realize and now share with the world”.

Specifically, the three NFT works are:

• Mother of Nature, which features a tree full of life destined to recreate itself and flourish; 
• Mother of Evolution, which instead touches on the metamorphosis journey of butterflies; 
• Mother of Technology, inspired by science that with the right awareness can give light to the physical and real world but with consequences, so nature will always win. 

Singers and artists in the world of Non-Fungible Tokens

This new pair of famous names such as Madonna and Beeple, are on the same level as other names of artists and singers who use NFTs to express their art. 

Just last month, Italian artist Matteo Mauro recorded his new $100,000 sales record for his Four Elements NFT collection, of which Terra (Earth) had yet to go on sale. 

Celebrated hip hop singer Snoop Dogg also launched his first NFT collection using the Cardano blockchain in early April, thus expanding beyond Ethereum. The new project was made possible thanks to the collaboration of Clay Mates, the liaison between Snoop Dogg and the Cardano Community.

Exactly one year has passed since the record sale for $69 million of the NFT minted by the artist Beeple. That auction at Christie’s marked a point of no return and established the NFT industry as the latest trend in the crypto world. 

Beeple’s $69 million NFT

The work was called “Everydays: The First 5000 Days”. The work was the first NFT auctioned by the famous Christie’s house. It is a collage of works by Mike Winkelmann, aka Beeple, published for 5,000 consecutive days starting on 1 May 2007. 

Each work tells the story of Beeple’s evolution and becomes increasingly abstract, grotesque and absurd.  

In the NFT, all the works are collected in a single lot, which thus sold for $69.3 million. 

One year on

What has changed a year after that record sale? That episode opened a crack in the world of digital art and made it clear that collectors were willing to go crazy even for works in digital format, whose uniqueness is certified by the blockchain. 

A year later, Beeple’s record was broken by another sale, Pak‘s The Merge, which sold for $91.8m.  

In the meantime, the industry has been grinding out record numbers: 41 billion volumes in 2021 alone with a peak of over 1 billion being recorded on 22 August 2021. 

In 2022, the trend seems to be changing and NFTs are experiencing a decline in sales. 

Nevertheless, new marketplaces and collections are emerging all the time. 

Not only that, great artists have entered the sector, major fashion brands have launched their NFT collections (most recently Diesel), while the combination of sport and NFTs is getting closer and closer with projects such as Sorare. 

The most popular collections 

Today we know that collections of pixellated faces like the CryptoPunks, or monkeys like the Bored Ape Yacht Club can be worth millions of dollars. 

For example, CryptoPunk 5822 sold for 8,000 ETH or $23.7 million on 12 February. 

These are staggering numbers that do not fear a crisis. Especially since this market will be accompanied by the progressive development of metaverse where NFTs will play their part. 

Games such as Decentraland or The Sandbox have been precursors and experiments. But more and more brands are exploring metaverse and NFT, and it is easy to assume that the development of the sector may only be at the beginning.

While the NFT market does not seem to be affected by the collapse of cryptocurrency prices, the UK-based creative marketplace Design Bundles has carried out research to rank the top ten NFT artists in the world, with Beeple taking the lead. 

The ranking took into account several parameters, including the degree of celebrity recorded on the most famous digital art platform Behance, Instagram followers and Google search volumes.

The success of the NFT sector

According to many experts, the NFT market could be the one driving the entire cryptocurrency ecosystem in the coming years. The world of sports, music, art and entertainment in general have been adopting for months with great success, the sale of gadgets, objects and services related to their world with this system of tokens.

In the second half of last year, the historic auction houses, such as Sotheby’s and Christie’s, began to organize auctions for the sale of NFT works. This followed the stunning success of the Christie’s sale of digital artist Beeple. A digital collage of his works was sold to a mystery buyer for a record $69 million. 

Beeple the most popular NFT artist in the world

Mike Winkelmann, aka Beeple as his stage name, is at the top of Design Bundles’ ranking as the world’s most popular NFT artist.

In second place is artist Emi Haze, with 1.1 million likes and 5.7 million project views, about half the number of Winkelmann. Emi is a freelance digital artist and creative director of “Valtari”, an innovative new design studio based in Italy and the UK, specializing in digital illustration and graphics.

In third place is Peter Tarka, famous for his immersive 3D illustrations. His illustrations have recently landed in the NFT universe, with one of his pieces, “reflections,” selling for $3,689.

In fourth place was digital crypto artist MBSJQ, whose digital collection was valued at over $5 million and his most expensive piece sold for $330,000.

Rounding out the top five is German artist Andreas Preis. The Berlin-based artist reportedly amassed over 385,000 likes on the Behance platform and over 285,000 followers.

A Bundles spokesperson commented on the results stating: 

“The digital art industry has exploded in the past year following the popularity of NFTs. Many artists have taken the step into the NFT space, and are making big waves in the community, such as Beeple. The digital art community has flourished with the rise in NFTs, and it will be very exciting to see both new talent and old favourites breaking into the space as NFTs become even more popular”.

On the other hand, the fact that the market has literally exploded in 2021 is certified by data that points to sales of nearly $27 billion, according to a report by digital analytics firm Chainalysis.
