Basketcoin: Why BSKT May Be the Ultimate Deflationary Crypto Asset

Basketcoin (BSKT) is solving a unique problem. Is is the first fully deflationary token secured with a basked of cryptocurrencies with the possibility of staking and management.

Cryptocurrencies whose supply in the market is constantly decreasing, to a predetermined and contracted amount are called deflationary cryptocurrencies. The deflationary system for cryptocurrencies is completely different from deflation in the strict economic(traditional) sense. In the prevailing conditions of deflation in traditional markets for the same amount expressed in fiat money, after a while you can buy more goods or services offered – this, of course, is directly related to the increase in the purchasing power of fiat money. In the world of cryptocurrencies, in turn, deflation is subject to token or coin, and their value will fundamentally increase relative to national currencies.

In the case of deflationary cryptocurrencies, the constitutional premise is to gradually reduce
the existing number of available tokens by eliminating them from the market in a process that is
generally called token burning. Such a state of affairs, in essence, will lead to an increase in the
valuation of tokens while reducing their amount. It should be added here that burning tokens does
not destroy them in the literal sense of the word, but only permanently prevents their use in the
future. Burned tokens are placed in a special public wallet, which is called “eater address”. The
status of tokens contained in this wallet is published on the blockchain network, and all tokens
contained in it, as already mentioned, are permanently blocked.

The elimination process can be achieved through the following actions:

1. burning a certain percentage of available tokens,
2. purchase tokens and then burn them, or block them,
3. removing tokens from circulation by placing them on special platforms for this purpose.

Deflationary cryptocurrencies are gaining more and more interest in the blockchain
architecture mainly thanks to one of its biggest advantages, which is undoubtedly maximizing their
value by increasing the valuation of tokens in proportion to the decrease in their amount in
circulation (circulating supply).

Bitcoin surges above $69k after better-than-expected US CPI

Bitcoin’s price has soared past $69,000 after the latest US Consumer Price Index (CPI) for May showed a slight decline.

Available data shows that the much-anticipated US CPI inflation data was better than several experts’ predictions.

Charlie Bilello, the Chief Market Strategist at Creative Planning, said:

“Overall, US CPI moved down to 3.27% year-on-year in May from 3.36% in April. US inflation has now been above 3% for 38 straight months. US Core CPI (ex-Food/Energy) moved down to 3.41% year-on-year from 3.62% last month. This is the lowest core inflation reading since April 2021.”

Bilello further pointed out that the US Inflation rate has drastically reduced from the 9.1% peak of June 2022 to 3.3% today. He added that the decline in these numbers was caused by the “lower rates of inflation in used cars, gas utilities, apparel, food at home, gasoline, medical care, fuel oil, food away from home, shelter, and electricity.”

Bitcoin rises on optimistic CPI

The better-than-expected CPI numbers immediately had a positive impact on Bitcoin’s price, with the BTC rising by more than 2% on the 1-hour candle to as high as $69,377 as of press time.

Mike Alfred, a board member at IREN Energy, pointed out that the movement showed that:

“Bitcoin already knows that CPI + Fed won’t be major bearish catalysts. It’s a highly intelligent global macro asset that prices in almost everything in advance.”

Meanwhile, the market attention has shifted to the US Federal Reserve, which will reveal its decision on current interest rates later today. Jesse Cohen, a Global Markets Analyst at Investing.com, said:

“The May CPI Inflation report could give the Fed the confidence to begin laying out the carpet for rate hikes in the months ahead. It’s going to take a minimum of three or four soft inflation prints before I think they’re ready to cut rates, but this would be a start.”

Polkadot developer proposes inflation upgrade to enhance transparency

Polkadot developer Kian Paimani has proposed a flexible inflation upgrade for the network to address the issues tied to the blockchain’s inflation logic.

According to the proposal’s GitHub document, the Polkadot relay chain’s current state presents various challenges, including high inflation rates. These stem from outdated infrastructure and parachain slots’ ineffective influence on inflation.

Additionally, adjusting the inflation rate is complex, requiring manual intervention via source code modifications rather than streamlined on-chain governance.

The proposal further recognizes that Polkadot’s inflation rate is intricately linked with its staking mechanism and lacks ideal configurability. This interdependency complicates attempts to forecast inflation accurately and can disrupt staking events. So, the convoluted process of updating the inflation rate exacerbates these challenges.

However, the flexible inflation proposal aims to mitigate these issues by offering a framework for easier inflation rate adjustments through a new “pallet_inflation.”

This update “does not propose any changes to the actual inflation rate but rather provides a new technical substrate (pun intended) on which token holders can decide more clearly and transparently on the future of the DOT token’s inflation in a more clear and transparent way.”

If ratified, the upgrade promises greater transparency and comprehension of inflation mechanisms. It facilitates smoother parameterization through governance mechanisms while disentangling inflation from staking logic.

Paimani also pointed out that the proposal aligns with the economic vision outlined in the JAM Greypaper, indicating its potential as a viable economic solution for DOT.

He added:

“While mainly intended for Polkadot, the system proposed in this RFC is general enough such that it can be interpreted as a ‘general inflation system pallet,; and can be used in newly onboarding parachain.”

Zilliqa (ZIL) is a token developed in the year 2017. The white paper mentions that the transactions speed would be approximately a thousand times more than that of Ethereum network. Ziliqa is fast, secured and decentralized. By incorporating the Sharding Technology, it can completely revolutionize the smart contract functionality too.

Hey E.T Fam! I’m returning to share some bullish news with you all. I’m sure everyone knows by now that I’m always talking about how NFTs are the future. Well, today that was just proven in China. The crypto space has been plagued with news of China banning crypto monthly. This year has been especially heavy with the country banning Bitcoin mining and all crypto transactions.

Well, it has been reported that despite the bans, NFTs are still a very hot commodity in the East. I’ve been on my soapbox for months now preaching the gospel of NFTS, how they will ultimately be the key to mainstream adoption. My convictions only grow stronger when stories like this one emerges. Everyone doesn’t understand the power of JPEGs, and everyone won’t. That’s fine, and that’s life.

However, for those of you that do understand, you also understand how monumental this news is. NFTs are literally changing the world, and we’re still so early to the industry. E.T Fam, always remember: We are the world changers, and we are the dreamers of the dreams.

USA, price control is needed against inflation

With the US inflation rate at more than 6%, most economists believe the time has come for the financial authorities to intervene to control the rise in prices that threatens to undermine the economic recovery.

The White House will finance $1 billion

The US is experiencing some of its worst inflation in forty years and the Federal Reserve and the White House are considering countermeasures to deal with what, along with the emergence of the Omicron variant, is expected to be one of the worst threats to the economic recovery.

The White House considers the monopolistic policies of big companies to be the main culprits of the price increase and is trying to take action to help the worst affected sectors. Last week it announced that it will provide $1 billion to fund an aid programme for independent meat and poultry producers, with the aim of reducing the four powerful meat producers that the Biden administration has held responsible for rising consumer prices.

Biden, during an event at the White House, said:

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Capitalism without competition isn’t capitalism. It’s exploitation. That’s what we’re seeing in meat and poultry and those industries now. Small, independent farmers and ranchers are being driven out of business — sometimes businesses that have been around for generations. It strikes at their dignity, the respect and the family legacy so many of them carried for generations”.

In November, President Biden asked the Federal Trade Commission to investigate whether oil and gas companies were improperly raising energy prices.

The Federal Reserve has already hinted that it is prepared to raise interest rates to try to cool rising prices. But many economists believe that these measures are merely palliatives to deal with a situation that is becoming increasingly explosive.

Price controls against inflation?

Some economists believe it is time to think about more drastic solutions such as price controls, as Marion Nestle of New York University told the New York Times in recent days.

But her colleague Isabella Weber of the University of Massachusetts, in an editorial in The Guardian was even clearer:

“We have a powerful weapon to fight inflation: price controls. It’s time we consider it”.

Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman, who tweeted that Weber’s ideas were nonsense. Democratic economist Larry Summers, Treasury secretary from 1999 to 2001, said on Twitter that the idea that antitrust policy could be used to reduce prices amounted to “scientific denial”.

But Weber notes how price controls on certain goods, such as pharmaceuticals or rents, are in fact already applied in some states and have had positive effects on inflation. In her article, Weber cites the example of the Roosevelt administration during World War II, which set up the Office of Price Administration to enforce strict price controls.
