Forge hits one million users

Ten months since launch, web3 gaming reward platform Forge has announced it’s surpassed one million registered users.

To-date, the platform has partnered with more than 60 games ranging from WorldShards and The Sandbox to Wilder World, Ember Sword and Xterio, enabling users to earn in-game rewards and Forge XP for completing various missions.

In conjunction with the news, Forge has also revealed a new set of what it labels strategic investors, although it hasn’t disclosed any funding amount.

These new investors include Avalanche development studio Ava Labs and the Sui Foundation plus a range of angels such as Dingaling, Crypto Art House’ James Zhang and Project Godjira’s Shan.

“Reaching 1 million users within our first year is an incredible milestone for Forge, and we couldn’t be more excited about the journey ahead,” said Forge CEO Kun Gao.

“Our platform is designed to empower game developers to harness the power of community to reach and reward players, and this milestone shows that we’re on the right path. We’re doubling down on our mission of helping our partners build thriving gaming communities.”

Skale launches its Swell questing platform

It is a truth universally acknowledged that any consumer-facing blockchain gaming platform in need of more users must launch its own questing system.

And that’s why the Skale blockchain is launching Swell, something it calls “an interactive platform that will accelerate community engagement and reward participation to welcome millions of consumers into the web3 space”.

As a gas-free network of EVM-compatible blockchains (at least in terms of end users), Skale has been used by several high volume casual games and now wants to build on that experience with a wider platform approach.

Swell will feature onchain activities ranging across gaming, AI, social, DeFi and other experiences, which will allow users to build up their XP total, with leaderboard placement being rewarded with prizes such as NFTs and unique titles.

Xai’s Vanguard community event starts 10th June

The Xai Foundation, has announced Xai Vanguard: Genesis, an event entailing quests, player rewards, and new game releases on Arbitrum-based L3 Xai.

Deployed on Xai mainnet, the Vanguard campaign is a sequel to the Xai Odyssey testnet campaign, which resulted in over 500,000 new wallet sign-ups and 5 million transactions.

Starting June 10th and running into November, the event includes partner games such as Crypto Unicorns, Final Form and Lost Glitches. During its initial month, quests from other blockchain technology partners will also be featured, offering additional ways for players to score points on the designated Xai Vanguard: Genesis leaderboard.

In order to incentivise web3 game developers, the Vanguard event will also feature a series of builder quests through which studio’s can score points on the leaderboard and earn their own set of rewards, including recently announced Sequence-powered Xai Builder, and more.

The new service is called Visa Web3 Loyalty Engagement Solution and aims to create added value in engaging and retaining users of the payment giant.

And indeed, the new Web3 rewards will allow customers to have digital wallets to collect tokenized tickets, loyalty coins, digital collectibles, and other benefits offered by brands, which can then be used for virtual and physical experiences.

According to the words of Kathleen Pierce-Gilmore, SVP and Global Head of Issuing Solutions at Visa, the new loyalty service will allow brands to reward customers both for their transactions and for their active engagement.

This is therefore a new era of rewards, which responds to the current desires of people who want to be rewarded not only for their purchases and loyalty, but also for their commitment and interactions with a brand, especially if it is fun, easy and rewarding.

Visa and the Web3 loyalty rewards service

In order to succeed in this initiative, Visa has relied on the collaboration of SmartMedia Technologies, which has created a corporate platform that connects Web2 and Web3 to provide brands with levels of prize personalization for their customers.

Web3 and the significant growth of Blockchain Gaming

Being in the Web3 world, just last month we talked about the significant growth that blockchain gaming (GameFi) is experiencing.

Despite being still far away from the achievements reached by the traditional gaming market, it seems that Web3 gaming has recorded significant numbers.

And indeed, according to data from market intelligence company Grand View Research, the blockchain gaming market was worth more than $4.8 billion in 2022, with a forecasted expansion at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 68.3% from 2023 to 2030.

CoinGecko also reveals another important data, stating that every day more than 800,000 people play Web3 games. This figure pales in comparison to the Web2 game Minecraft which (alone) has an average of over 11.9 million players per day.

Anyway, blockchain gaming is growing rapidly, to the point that even CoinGecko has stopped to describe the differences between a GameFi player and a traditional player.

In practice, while traditional games have regular players, in blockchain games there are yield farmers, degenerate traders, institutional investors, bots, actual players, and a constantly evolving list of participant types who connect their wallets to the protocols.
