A new milestone for SisalFunClub2024, which inaugurates the launch of its gaming app with the debut of new entertainment experiences dedicated to sports enthusiasts, on the metaverses of Roblox and The Sandbox.

These immersive experiences were created together with VR46 Metaverse, a company dedicated to the development of the VR46 brand in the gaming and web3 fields.

And in fact, on the Roblox gaming metaverse, SisalFunClub2024 has landed on Moto Island, the experience dedicated to Valentino Rossi.

There is a range of game content up for grabs, from the revamped main circuit to the challenging obstacle course. In this way, users who want to access the SisalFunClub2024 experiences will be able to test their driving skills on Moto Island.

In a recent TV interview, the CEO of the Roblox metaverse, David Baszucki, discussed the vision of “objects and NFTs transiting fluidly between different platforms,” and also presented an example of theoretical usage.  

In addition, another Roblox executive hinted at the possibility of introducing NFTs on the platform by 2022. 

Let’s see all the details below. 

The role of NFTs in the metaverse according to the CEO of Roblox

As we know, Roblox currently generates hundreds of millions of dollars each quarter through the sale of its digital currency, which is used by players to acquire assets within its closed platform. 

However, founder and CEO, David Baszucki, is contemplating the idea of opening up the Roblox ecosystem to allow the use of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on both his platform and others.

In fact, during an interview with CNBC, Baszucki shared his “dream” regarding objects and NFTs that can move freely between different platforms, emphasizing the importance of interoperability. 

Although it is unclear whether Baszucki was expressing a vision shared by the company, he illustrated a potential scenario, suggesting that celebrities such as Elton John could create and sell beneficial objects on Roblox, which would subsequently become NFTs and circulate outside the platform.

In addition, interoperability would allow digital assets, including NFTs, to operate on different platforms, breaking the closed ecosystem model in which an object or avatar is bound to a specific platform. 

Baszucki indicated that should interoperability for NFTs on Roblox be successful, creators such as Elton John or companies such as Nike would have a significant role and some control in the process.

In this regard, Baszucki mentioned Nike as an example of a company that has invested in NFTs, highlighting the decent success it has achieved through the sale of limited edition shoes through the use of specific tokens.

Roblox and NFTs: a perspective that remains in the background

Following the news, recall that this is not the first time a Roblox executive has hinted at the possibility of introducing NFTs on the platform. 

In fact, in 2022, the then Chief Business Officer, Craig Donato, spoke of NFTs as something destined to work on the platform, almost considering them inevitable. 

However, he later emphasized that, at the time, the move to NFTs did not seem to be of primary importance. Donato subsequently left Roblox earlier this year.

Despite the potential positive impact on NFT adoption, considering that Roblox now has more than 70 million daily active users, it appears that the push to embrace NFTs may lack urgency for some time. 

Recall also that the platform continues to experience significant growth in its user base and earn substantial profits from the sale of its currency.

During the third quarter of this year, the company announced that it generated bookings worth $839.5 million, showing a 20% increase over the same period last year. 

Roblox defines “reservations” as the revenue generated when users purchase “Robux,” the platform’s in-app currency.

Roblox: stock recovery and quarterly performance on the rise

Roblox has gone through an up-and-down period in the stock market in recent months, falling to $25 per share in September after a peak of $45 earlier in the year. 

However, the stock has made a remarkable recovery, gaining further momentum.

Specifically, shares of the well-known video game developer surged 19% at market open on 8 November, following the disclosure of third-quarter results that exceeded analysts’ expectations in terms of earnings and profits. 

Roblox. specifically, reported a loss per share of 45 cents for the third quarter, below the estimate of 51 cents per share.

Adjusted revenues, or bookings, reached $839 million for the period, exceeding Wall Street’s forecast of $830 million, recording a 20% year-over-year increase. 

In addition, the number of average daily active users (DAUs) grew 20% year-on-year to 70.2 million in the third quarter. Similarly, players spent more than 16 billion hours on Roblox during the quarter, a 20% year-on-year increase.

Roblox’s net loss in the third quarter was $3 million, down sharply from the $277.2 million recorded in the same period last year.

Finally, in its 8 November letter to shareholders, Roblox highlighted significant revenue growth in East Asia and Western Europe, with the United States and Canada continuing to drive bookings growth.

The Roblox metaverse and the rise of NFT drainers: what’s up with the crypto phishing thieves?

The Roblox metaverse is one of the places of choice for crypto phishing thieves, those who use NFT drainers stealing millions of dollars. 

Basically, according to Plum, a security researcher working in the trust and security team of the NFT OpenSea marketplace, these NFT thieves are mostly kids still in high school. Here are his words. 

“95% of them are kids below the age of 18 and they’re still in high school. I personally have talked to quite a few of them and know they’re still in school. I’ve seen pictures and videos of various of them from their schools. They talk about their teachers, how they’re failing their classes or how they need to do homework.”

Not only that, Plum also said that crypto phishing kids are not hiding their wealth, and because of that, it is clear that the favorite place where they spend their stolen money with NFT drainers is Roblox. In this regard, Plum said:

“They’ll buy a laptop, some phones, shoes and spend vast amounts of money on Roblox. They all play Roblox for the most part. So they’ll buy the coolest gear for their Roblox avatar, video games, skins and things like that.”

Plum also identified other spending methodologies such as using crypto to buy Bitrefill gift cards or to buy designer clothes or cars on Uber Eats. Many of them also gamble

What is happening is a veritable frenzy among these kids to get money using NFT drainers. Among the most popular ones are Inferno, Venom, Pussy, Angel and Pink.

NFT drainers have seen a real rise, increasing the number of their customers who have used them to steal several million dollars.  

Among the top NFT drainers is Venom, which has been used to steal more than 2,000 NFTs from more than 15,000 victims. 

Clients of the drainer used as many as 530 phishing sites to conduct targeted attacks on cryptocurrency projects such as Arbitrum, Circle, and Blur, collecting a total of $29 million in NFTs, ethereum, and various tokens.

Inferno is also a noteworthy drainer, as it was used to steal $9.5 million from 11,000 victims. In contrast, the Pussy NFT drainer was used to steal $14 million from 3,000 victims. 

Clients of Angel, which originated from a Russian hacking forum, used it to steal $1 million from over 500 victims in the form of NFTs and various tokens. 

Then among the most recent NFT drainers is Pink, which was also used in May and June for broader exploits including on the Discords of Orbiter Finance, LiFi, Flare and Evmos, as well as on the Twitter account of Steve Aoki and others.

Roblox, a gaming company founded by David Baszucki and Erik Cassel, has hit its targets in its latest quarterly report, earning revenues of $591.2 billion.

Robloxs free-to-play metaverse is booming, even though subscriptions this quarter were down 4%. It nailed Q2, grossing $591.2 billion with a 30% annual increase. 

The ROBLOX token, with which one can trade within the metaverse, suffered a slight drop in trading, but the company, founded in 2004 and based in San Mateo, California, is gaining great acceptance among young Yankees. 

Research has shown that the world of Roblox is particularly popular among 17- to 24-year-olds, and the company sees this trend growing for the next two years. 

However, Roblox, which grossed revenues of nearly $600 million, sees its subscriptions declining by 4%, while free cash flow stood at $57.3 million

On a yearly basis, the workforce significantly affected costs but without weighing them down, and instead generated profit. 

The increase in cost of employees at Roblox grew by 53% to $143.9 million.

The increase in headcount has been the vector for the increase in costs, but the trend will continue through 2023 inclusive according to what the company indicated in its letter of explanation on the recently released quarterly report. 

DAUs, daily active users, came in at 52.2 million, up 21% from 2021, and hours spent at the screen were 11.3 billion, up 16%, the company reported. 

The statements from the company: future prospects

In the explanation of the notes, this is what the company stated:

“We are now at peak numbers globally for users and hours, and in the US / Canada: the absolute level of users and hours of engagement in July surpassed those of any previous month even during the pandemic’s peak lockout periods. . With the exception of December 2020 and 2021, total global bookings in July were also at high monthly levels. We believe our recruiting brand has never been stronger and we believe we are constrained by the number of talented engineers that we can hire. As a result, we continued hiring aggressively in the second quarter and plan to do so for balance this year and probably 2023”.

Luxury fashion house Burberry has launched its virtual bag collection for the Roblox metaverse. Currently, the first limited edition bag is available for 800 Robux (€9.99).

Burberry, the celebrated London-based luxury fashion house, has launched its first virtual bag collection for the Roblox metaverse. Here’s the announcement on Twitter:

“Just dropped: the first virtual Lola bag from Burberry x @Roblox is now available to shop for 24 hours only. Shop Gem now and discover the next four designs at http://brby.co/avi“.

In reality, this is a collection of five virtual bags that will be available one at a time for 24 hours, from 11 to 15 July 2022, at a price of 800 Robux, Roblox’s currency, amounting to €9.99 each. The launch of each bag will be accompanied by its own “emote”, a unique move that avatars can perform, such as levitation or dancing.

The first Lola bag and the other 4 were created in collaboration with one of the platform’s most successful digital fashion designers, Builder Boy. The bags can be purchased and worn exclusively in the Roblox metaverse. 

Burberry enters the metaverse with Roblox

Just like other fashion brands of the caliber of Gucci and Hermès, Burberry has also chosen to hop aboard the metaverse by partnering with Roblox. 

In this regard, Rachel Waller, vice president of Channel Innovation at Burberry said:

“We are thrilled to partner with Roblox to share a virtual handbag collection and to bring our iconic Lola bag to life in an entirely new creative way,’ says Rachel Waller, VP of Channel Innovation at Burberry. ‘The expression of our digital personas is a fascinating concept and one which we know is increasingly important to our customers. Roblox is a platform built on imagination, community and creativity pillars which are central to our brand, and we’re delighted to bring our virtual products to this community”.

Hermès sues MetaBirkins NFT creator for brand infringement

Earlier this year, the famous French fashion house Hermès, had sued Mason Rothschild, the creator of the 100 MetaBirkins NFT collection that includes images depicting furry renderings of the traditional Birkin. 

Basically, Rothschild launched the collection of bags depicting Hermès’ famous Birkins in the metaverse, adding the word ‘meta’ to the brand, thinking he could make it exempt from trademark infringement. 

Following the explosive trend of NFTs, the price of one of these designer handbags NFTs in the metaverse apparently hovered around 42 thousand euros. All the more motivation for Hermès to denounce the artist as a “digital speculator”

Spotify, the music streaming service, has launched its new island in the Roblox metaverse: ‘a sound paradise’ that aims to offer new interactive and virtual experiences for fans and artists.

The streaming music giant is also diving into the world of the metaverse by launching Spotify Island on Roblox. In a series of tweets, Spotify showed off the different features that could attract users to the magical ‘paradise of sound’.

Roblox users will be able to engage with artists, complete interactive missions and unlock exclusive content. Players will also be able to enjoy an immersive audio experience by creating music and exploring sounds in virtual beat-maker stations powered by Soundtrap. 

Not only that, for Spotify listeners there will also be a chance to collect the heart-shaped “Like” icon, which can be exchanged for merch. These things allow fans to interact with the brand in a whole new way.

According to reports, Spotify appears to be the first streaming music brand to be featured on Roblox. In this regard, here’s how it describes its vision:
