The Sandbox’s blockchain-based metaverse is collaborating with Jamiroquai, the jazz-funk band led by Jay Kay, known for the worldwide hit “Virtual Insanity”. Starting now, new merchandise signed Jamiroquai x Sandbox will be available.
The Sandbox welcomes Jamiroquai to its metaverse
According to a blogpost from The Sandbox, it appears that the new collaboration with legendary London band Jamiroquai is the group’s first entry into the Web3 and the metaverse.
Jamiroquai are known for hit songs such as “Virtual Insanity” and “Canned Heat”. Virtual Insanity was named video of the year by MTV in 1997. The hit song also earned Jamiroquai a Grammy Award the following year, selling 27 million albums worth of albums.
The new collaboration with The Sandbox was developed in association with Bravado, Universal Music Group’s industry-leading brand management division.
Speaking about this, Sebastien Borget, COO and co-founder of The Sandbox said:
“The metaverse is driving creativity through new forms of expression and technology in the music and entertainment industry, and it is an honor to welcome Jamiroquai to The Sandbox. We now have partnerships with various legendary musical artists and labels including Snoop Dogg, Jamiroquai, BLOND:ISH, and Deadmau5, and we’re excited to be making The Sandbox a home where artists can connect with their fans in a direct and genuine way”.
Jamiroquai in the metaverse to connect with fans
The idea of entering The Sandbox metaverse, already well known for hosting other musical artists of the calibre of Snoop Dogg, will also offer Jamiroquai the opportunity to connect with their fans in a different way.
Speaking about this, Racheal Redfearn, SVP A&R and Brand Management at Bravado said:
“We are delighted to be able to deliver a new method of interaction between artists and their fans and cannot wait to welcome you all into the world of Jamiroquai with The Sandbox. Through new partnerships, we can help our artists deliver content, commerce, and creativity to fans directly, as fully immersive, and innovative experiences”.
The first exclusive content will be new signed Jamiroquai x Sandbox merchandise, consisting of a limited edition T-shirt and keychain, available exclusively at store.jamiroquai.com.
SAND’s price follows major crypto trend
Despite being one of the most popular blockchain-based metaverse, The Sandbox (SAND) token seems to be following the price trend of major cryptocurrencies.
And indeed, at the time of writing, SAND is worth $1.22, losing 5% in the last 24 hours alone.
This is far from its ATH recorded last November 2021 at $8.4, just as Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) were hitting all-time highs of around $65,000 and $5,000 respectively.
SAND is the 40th crypto by market capitalization, with a 0.12% dominance of the entire sector.
