Self-styled next-gen metaverse gaming platform Readyverse has announced a couple of partnerships as it looks to build out interest for its battle royale game Open, which is currently in development for PC and consoles.
On the IP, it’s now working with NFT community Neo Tokyo to bring its Citizens characters into Open where they will join similar collabs with the likes of Cool Cats, Reebok and DeLorean.
Readyverse also has the rights to the Ready Player One IP thanks to the involvement of author Ernest Cline as a co-founder.
The other deal is more about artistic positioning as Readyverse is working with fellow New Zealand-founded film props and game developer Wētā Workshop (note not the separate SFX outfit Wētā FX) to optimize the game’s conceptual visual look.
“At Wētā Workshop, we’ve always tried to push the limits of storytelling and design, and our work with Open has given us the exceptional opportunity to do just this,” said CEO Richard Taylor.
“This project has enabled us to explore a visually stunning and incredibly immersive world unlike anything we have done before, and as our team are longtime fans of the wonderful folk at Readyverse, we are proud to collaborate on bringing this moment to life by sharing these images with the Open community.”
