It’s a bad day for TI13 Fantasy Predictions as powerhouses like Xtreme Gaming and Team Falcons, flopped and got sent into lower bracket prematurely.
We are currently in the Playoffs at The International 2024 (TI13), where the first eliminations are happening. Hence, it’s looking dire for the two formidable powerhouses to be at the brim of elimination.
Recap on Day 1 Playoffs
The first day of Playoffs concluded with Xtreme Gaming and Team Falcons losing to Team Liquid and Tundra Esports respectively. They both lost a clean 0-2 sweep as well, which makes the series even more baffling for fans.
Xtreme Gaming woke up with an unorthodox yet poor choice of draft during their first game. When they picked Slark to confuse Team Liquid, only for it to be a position-4 Slark. Although the laning phase in this game one looked sustainable, it eventually went downhill as the Slark support proved to be an obsolete drafting choice.
Losing the first game despite putting up a decent fight, fans expected Xtreme to stop messing around. On paper, it looked great with the draft featuring Treant Protector, Timbersaw, Batrider and Puck. They even have a potentially strong late-game Phantom Assassin.
However, Team Liquid truly outwitted them with an unexpected last-pick Tiny, which gave their line-up immense magic damage output. The second game scaled exponentially in favor of the mid-Tiny enabling the whole map with an early Blink Dagger.
Tundra Esports narrowly beat Falcons
Compared to the poor showing from Xtreme Gaming, Team Falcons vs Tundra was absolute cinema for fans of Western European Dota 2. Falcons’ draft was textbook meta, which is effective for a team that rely on their exceptional execution.
Yet, Tundra managed to shut down Falcons in both games, proving that their line-up of prodigies can beat the world’s strongest team. Despite having Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen on Invoker in both games, the true MVP was Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko, who put on a hard carry performance that rival even the best.
If you haven’t watched game two between Tundra and Falcons, we highly recommend watching the replay because it’s surely one of the most intense matches of TI13 so far.
What’s next for Xtreme Gaming and Team Falcons at TI13?
Since this is just the Upper Bracket, the two powerhouses still have a lifeline to redeem themselves in the lower bracket. Nevertheless, it’s a tough lower bracket to be in, especially with opponents, including themselves, BetBoom Team and even Team Spirit in this lower bracket. These teams will eventually clash against one another as the days at TI13 advances.
However, the earliest and most-anticipated series to occur would be the potential Xtreme Gaming vs Team Spirit. This is assuming Team Spirit manages to defeat G2 x iG in their round one of Lower Bracket tomorrow.
