Philippines-based web3 gaming community YGG has partnered with Parallel Studios on a $100,000 prize pool tournament for Parallel TCG.
Set to take place live during YGG Play Summit in Manila on 19th-23rd November 2024, the tournament includes two online qualifiers, which are open to players from all around the world. From the two 128-player qualifiers, a total of 16 players will advance to the live tournament. This will stretch across the four-day YGG Play Summit event.
As for the structure of the qualifiers, they will be based on Parallel League points. Seven rounds of Swiss, in a best-of-3 conquest format, will be played during the first day. The top 8 participants going through on the second day qualify for the final tournament. However, these players will still settle their Parallel League points in a best-of-3 single elimination format ahead of the deciding $100,000 live event.
The first qualifier is set for 12-13th October, followed by the second one on 26-27th October.Â
As part of the partnership, prominent YGG KOLs (key opinion leaders) will also host special Parallel TCG giveaways and promote the game via social platforms. YGG will also make additional educational videos such as deck guides for its YouTube channel.Â
“TCG players have always been passionate about the games they play, and many look for opportunities to test their skill at a high-stakes competitive level,” commented YGG co-founder Gabby Dizon.Â
“Parallel is in a very good position to be able to cater to these players, with many of its mechanics inspired by competitive TCGs such as Magic: the Gathering and Hearthstone. With YGG organizing these events, many players can have a chance at earning their share of the $100,000 prize pool at YPS.”
“When YGG approached us for this partnership, we saw an opportunity to bring a unique experience to current players and newcomers,” said Parallel TCG co-founder Kalos. “We will be able to emulate that feeling of playing with other people in a card shop while also showing them the advantages that web3 offers through Parallel TCG.”
Alongside the tournament, the YGG Play Summit will also feature a live GAM3 Awards ceremony, a cosplay competition, a one-day conference, and live demos and tournaments of the most prominent web3 games.
