The blockchain behind ZIL, Zilliqa, has announced its new Metaverse with “Metapolis” coming in January 2022.
The new virtual city includes autonomous accessible web features and Platform-as-a-Service functionality integrated with XR, involving NFT, Play-to-Earn, and more.
Zilliqa, the Metapolis Metaverse
Zilliqa is also entering the Metaverse with Metapolis, active from next January 2022. The new virtual city is designed as an extended reality XR metaverse, amalgamating Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR).

“We’re making it official. #Metapolis, Zilliqa’s highly immersive, customisable extended reality (#XR) #metaverse platform – Coming soon in 2022!
Here’s what’s in store for Metapolis.”
According to reports, Metapolis will allow custom-designed “domes” as part of cities to host brands, artists, concepts, games, e-stores, real estates, or other digital experiences.
The virtual city involves NFT, e-commerce, play-to-earn, digital mannequins, billboards, and more.
Zilliqa Metaverse and NFT avatars as users’ digital identity
Upon entering Metapolis, users can acquire fully customizable NFT Avatars that will represent their digital identity.
This way, users will be able to participate in the virtual version at concerts and fashion shows, teleport between cities and individual domes, and access curated and open galleries and showrooms to buy, sell or trade digital goods.
In this regard, Zilliqa CEO Dr. Ben Livshits stated:
“The Metaverse isn’t about replacing reality. It is about bettering our relationship with the digital world. Beyond the sharing-culture that social media has unleashed, this world looks at reducing the gaps present in our ‘real’ economy — gaps around access to value creation and fair pay. It will add layers of interaction to professional and personal lives — with shared value and incentive-driven models at its heart. Metapolis is building such a world, and we’re very proud of it.”
Sandra Helou, Head of Metaverse and NFT, Zilliqa, also said:
“Diversification, innovation and the use of digital assets are all part of Web 3.0. If you add to that an ‘always-on’ layer of engagement to make it borderless and accessible, you start to see the fabric of the Metaverse being woven together. Now is the time to unlock these new layers of engagement for your customers and followers. If you haven’t already ventured into NFTs and the Metaverse, we can help you understand what that marketing strategy could look like and how it can bring value. As we lead the charge on the creator economy, Zilliqa is well equipped to support you — from conceptualisation to execution.”
Sponsorship, NFT, and now the Metaverse
Recently, Zilliqa’s Layer-1 Protocol had announced its involvement with boxer Terence Crawford, who was wearing a robe with ZIL’s logo. Sometime earlier, the company had also entered the world of soccer with a project related to Non-Fungible Tokens with footballers such as Rúben Dias of Manchester City, Keylor Navas of Paris Saint-Germain.
Not only that, but Zilliqa also collaborated with Polaris, a company that manages the rights of some of the world’s most important footballers, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, to formalize the launch of 10 NFTs linked to soccer stars.
Now, ZIL’s blockchain is also entering the Metaverse with Metapolis, coming in 2022. Since the news on social, ZIL has seen a 4% price pump in the last 24 hours, now worth $0.06.
